The Civil Society Network of the Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement and PROCASUR Corporation sealed their partnership for a new Learning Route Programme! The Programme will be officially launched next March, 03, 2016!
The SUN Movement unites governments, civil society, United Nations, businesses and citizens in the worldwide effort to end child malnutrition; today, the SUN Movement has 56 countries engaged in prioritize efforts to address malnutrition. In 2014, PROCASUR Corporation partnered with the SUN Movement Secretariat to develop a pilot project to enhance learning exchange and the sharing of good practices in the fight against child malnutrition. With this aim, two Learning Routes were implemented, one in Senegal and one in Peru, involving 14 SUN member countries and 40 participants from Latin America, Africa and Asia. The project succeeded in bringing countries closer, at regional and international level, strengthening the networking and the sharing of knowledge and experiences among the participating countries, allowing the circulation of good practices and innovations.
Building on the achievements of the pilot project, a new SUN Learning Route Programme was designed together with the SUN Civil Society Network. This is a Network of over 2000 civil society organisations across the world working together to reduce malnutrition.
The Programme will primarily involve organizations of the Civil Society Alliances of the SUN member countries, focussing in particular on Eastern and Southern Africa and Asia. Between 2016 and 2017, two Learning Routes will be implemented as part of the programme.
A start-up meeting was held in London, UK, on February 10, 2016, to present the objective and methodology of the Programme to representatives of the Civil Society Alliances of South and East Africa, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe together with representatives of the SUN Secretariat based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The learning exchanges will address some sensitive topics that Civil Society Alliance members have already identified as priority for their daily work, such as policy review and policy tracking, engagement and stimulation of multi-stakeholders platforms, budget tracking, advocacy and social mobilization, good governance, accountability and participatory processes.
